My New Constant Companions

Well, nothing much to report after a full day with my new trays.

There's the constant, fairly mild pressure - no pain. This set certainly "snaps" into place more securely than the first - they just feel snugger overall. And I can feel more pressure than before on certain teeth & see that as a good thing - means there's something going on here.

Not exactly a riveting report but that's OK by me. Slow & steady...

Hi Anne-
I'm 37 years old and on day 3 of my first set of aligners. It was nice to find your blog-good idea! I'll follow along this smile journey with you and check in often. I have 24 trays on the bottom, but only 7 on top. However the 7 on top require buttons along every front tooth...it's horrible to get off...right now I'm not the happiest camper. I'm glad things are going so smoothly for you!

Hey "A" ---

I can only imagine how difficult your upper tray must be to remove - aye carumba!

Keep in mind - it WILL get easier each time you remove it, especially as your teeth shift accordingly with each set. Use that small square of paper towel to help you grip it - it helps immensely (not sure how anyone gets their trays off easily without it?!)

Hang in there - keep reminding yourself WHY you are doing this in the first place...

It will all be worth it in the end. It's already somewhat easier to floss between my most crowded teeth, so even on my 2nd set there is a noticable difference - it may be only to me, but that's what counts right now!

I'll be rootin' for ya - let us know how you're doing from time to time -
& remember - it's OK to whine - we hear ya!

In order to get my aligners out I use latex gloves, which I just hang in the bathroom and reuse. They are slip-proof and I retain all of the sensitivity in my fingertips.
I also just soak mine in straight drugstore hydrogen peroxide. I started out using toothpaste, and as one blogger warned, it clouded the aligner. I have even cheated and sipped some coffee, which stains the aligner, but the peroxide removes the stain. Peroxide is cheap and often used as a mouthwash.
