Now in a limbo of sorts, since my 23rd & last tray set officially had it's last day yesterday. I have an appt. on the 2nd of January to decide what comes next.
Refinements will definitely be in order - with this last set, a couple of teeny gaps opened up almost overnight either side of my lower right lateral. Was hoping they would close up again, but they've actually not gotten any smaller at all over the past 2 weeks. It's not visible to anyone else, but it's sure obvious to me! It seems like all my lower cuspids should actually be straightened back inwards somewhat now - like they are too proclinated. Hard to believe that is even possible after seeing how overcrowded they were to begin with.
While waiting for the refinement plan & new trays I'm hoping these attachments will come off so I can get on with whitening. Have been using a toothpaste for sensitivity for the past month in anticipation to minimize it as a result of the whitening process.

Hi Anne,
your blog has been really helpful! Thanks a lot. Could you pls tell me if your ortho removed the buttons before you were about to start the refinements. Did you have a new set of attachments or were they taken off completely. It would be real nice if you could reply to this. Thanks a lot!
Susan
Hey - yes, all 5 of my attachments I had during my initial plan were removed before my impressions were done for my refinement series.
After they were removed - took only a few minutes to do actually - I was able to use the whitening gel. That had plenty of time to finish before my refinement plan showed I needed one attachment on a stubborn upper canine. I'll be finished this 4 set series of my refinement next week & already have an appt. to have this lone attachment removed a few days after the official last day of this set.
IF at that point, we decide to do any further refinements, then it's possible additional attachments may be needed - won't know that until we decide if going straight to retainment is best after that.
Hope that's not too confusing for you - I'll update the blog after I have this last attachment removed & post what happens after that...
Glad to have helped -
hope your treatment goes along as well as mine has!
Regards,
Anne
