When I removed my trays before dinner tonight, I could already see my center front upper gap has closed even more - my central incisors are SO close to almost touching now. And it's been less than 24 hours since I inserted this set (& it was another "yowza" one).
And I can feel in particular my 2nd premolar on my upper right with this set - it must be moving about the max of .25 mm with this set. Also have been meaning to report that it seems my two upper central incisors take turns almost in their movements - one moves with a set, then the other "catches up" with the following set. I can easily see that they are not "even" yet - one is always just a bit ahead of the other. Not that anyone else could likely ever tell, but I'm aware of it.

Well then, nice to meet you, neighbour! My husband had been to Niagara once before and thought he had 'seen' it. I said nope nope nope, and we did the Lakeshore Rd drive, explored NOTL right down to the marina, spent hours at Fort George, then cruised the Parkway back hom. We did a wine tour last visit, and visited my friend's peach farm. NOW he's seen Niagara! NOTL is just the most beautiful place, love it.
Back onto topic, SO cool to see the front teeth move I bet. When is your treatment done with?
Hi Anne
You're such an inspiration to anyone thinking of going through this process - your positivity is wonderful! Especially as there are so many people out there wanting to say bad things about Invisalign - I guess every case is different.
I have my appointment with my orthodontist tomorrow so I'm staying in tonight to read up on anything and everything - I don't even know as yet whether Invisalign will be a viable option for me as I've got quite bad overcrowding. I reckon I'll need some teeth pulling too because as far as I can tell my trouble only really began when my wisdom teeth started coming through - I begged and pleaded with my regular dentist to take them out but he said there was no need! So I feel a little (read:very) cheated on that as I completely believe 100% that my teeth wouldn't have gotten so bad otherwise. I think a lot of people seriously underestimate the effect of having "bad" teeth on a person's self-esteem and confidence (and I'm speaking from experience of the UK where we don't exactly have a great reputation for dental care anyway!). Hey, the one positive thing I find is that it makes me like the rest of my appearance a lot more, along the lines of "if it weren't for my teeth I wouldn't be bad looking at all, heck I'd be quite cute"!! ;-)
Anyway, enough random thoughts. I think I'm just nervous about tomorrow! You've been such a great help Anne and YOUR TEETH ARE LOOKING FANTASTIC!

Dawna --- if all goes according to plan, my 23rd & last tray set will be finished up just in time for Christmas: Dec. 17th to be exact. So far my dentist has told me I'll probably only need to wear retainers for 12 to 14 hours overnight after my initial plan is done. I'm not sure if I'm totally comfortable with that advice at this point after reading so many orthos who recommend wearing Invisalign type retainers full time for 3 months (or more) before cutting back to overnight wear only. I'm still considering a permanent wire retainer for my lowers since they are requiring the most movement & are usually the ones most apt to drift back towards their original placement...we'll see...
If any "tweaking" or refinement is decided on after my original 23 tray sets are done, well - I'm sure it won't seem like a big deal when the time comes.
& Yes - NOTL is a beautiful place to be!
Kate --- I hope all goes well at your appt. tomorrow. Glad I could be of help - I sincerely am.
Thanks!
Anne
Almost forgot - Dawna, I checked my notes found in an excerpt from lecturers at the Invisalign Summit '05 regarding different attachment shapes.
Long vertical ones like yours "are valuable for closing spaces and imposing root movement. They should be parallel, or the aligner may not be easily removed."
Are yours "bevelled" or "ramped" in shape so that one long edge is a bit longer than the other? This makes them easier to remove & since you're not having much trouble with that, I'm assuming they must be. Apparently, these type of attachments are a must for "torque movements to avoid squeezing the tooth out of the aligner. Rotating the attachment slopes makes these less visually obtrusive."
& for everyone's info: "Treatment is progressing properly if the attachment is always fully seated into the aligner. If the aligner departs from the attachment, you have these choices: continue and ignore the situation (in this case, remove the attachment to avoid unwanted tooth movements); or remove the attachment, and use the current aligner to place a new attachment."
Huh - there ya go...
Anne, thank you so much for your blog. I am 57 years old and have just begun the Invisalign process. It helps to draw from other's experiences. Your teeth are looking awesome. I have 27 more sets to go. But I am feeling very positive and encouraged. Thanks, I'll be reading your blog regularly. Sally, Canandaigua NY
Welcome Sally!
Thanks for the compliments - they mean a lot. Stay positive & let us know how your treatment's coming along from time to time.
We ALL like to compare notes!
Regards,
Anne
